Elissa emphasizes sleep and developmental education

Elissa’s path to study, understand and to conclusively locate magical solutions to the question of good sleep started for selfish reasons and has continued for practical, purposeful, and passionate reasons. To say she is passionate about sleep is not entirely accurate – She is obsessed.

While battling chronic exhaustion and mental fog, Elissa obtained degrees in Psychology and Child Development. Those early years in college were a turning point – her obsession with finding magical answers to good sleep was fueled. Years later, in 2009, she proudly became a Certified Postpartum Doula. While working as a postpartum doula she realized parents had many questions about sleep and her obsession now held a greater purpose – her exhausted new parents had sleep questions and she had (some) answers. Her adult sleep research quickly slipped into infant research and to this day her obsession lives on. She has created and taught several sleep classes for parents as well as birth professionals including doulas, midwives, and counselors. She has also been honored to speak at a Dona International Doula Conference and to offer continuing education hours for DONA Int’ doulas.

After all these years, what has evidenced based sleep research, working with her own sleep health, working with hundreds of families, and working with her own little one taught her? There is no magical anything to sleep, it is purposeful work. However, there is great news for tired parents – you do not have to navigate sleep development alone, Elissa can support you. She can help you understand your child’s sleep from the perspective of 5 different types of development and work with these distinct types of development to find good sleep for their body at their stages of development. Elissa cannot walk this path for you, she is not here to make choices for you, but she can walk with you, guide you and give you evidence based information to make your own parenting choices.

What Elissa Can and Can Not Offer:

Elissa has a sleep obsession spanning years resulting in knowledge of evidence-based information and over 15 years of hands on, as well as remote, experience to share. She does not have a magic pill or all the answers. No one does.

She does hold extensive knowledge in sleep but not extensive knowledge of your child – you hold that knowledge. She does know how to merry those two knowledge bases for the betterment of your child’s sleep.

Elissa is a good fit for some families but not a good fit for all families. Some families do not share her philosophy about sleep and that is okay! Parenting is a personal experience, and she is not here to replace your parenting choices, only to help you make educated choices.

She is here to inform and empower parents.
