Elissa started her research because she wanted to feel better. She quickly learned that is only the introduction to sleep’s value. Sleep has an invaluable impact on every part of our being – on your child’s being. Sleep is the foundation to learning. It is the key behind good physical, mental and emotional health.

There are different stages of sleep and each stage has its role and vital purpose:

REM sleep is known for aiding the brain in leaning and growing the brain. The difference between an “A” student and a “B” student is an average of plus or minus 15 minutes of sleep each night. Sure, your child may not be in school now, but they are learning vast quantities about the world around them right this second. Also, good sleep habits now are foundational to good sleep habits in the future.

We know that growth hormone is released in deep/slow wave sleep. During this stage, your baby’s body does its best work to grow bones and muscles for a healthy physical development.  Also, this stage of sleep is responsible for repairing damage to the body such as a cut or a broken bone or more commonly occurring, a cold.

Did you know babies who cry less tend to sleep better/more? And babies who tend to sleep better/more cry less? Sleep has many symbiotic relationships such as the above example.

These are only a few examples about sleep and its importance to our health. Elissa is happy to share more with you and your family.
